My thoughts on the religion epidemic

"How do you know that everything you believe in and everything that you teach is legit?"
"The proof is all around!"
"What proof?"
*stammers* "The perfection of His Design!"
"That 'perfection' came from evolution. We're not even 'perfect,' in your eyes."
"What do you mean? Everyone's perfect!"
"Gays, feminists--"
"THEY WILL GO TO HELL!!!"
This is basically every conversation you will ever have with Christians. They are constantly contradicting themselves, much like the Book that they read, and they are also extremely hypocritical.
"Don't have premarital sex!"
"But, mom, you had me out of wedlock--"
"THAT WAS DIFFERENT."
How is it, though? How is anything different? People are always quick to scold others and quick to defend themselves. They rarely ever think of others.

I have met good Christians: people who actually respect other peoples, which was Jesus' main message (ignore the part where he says that he came to tear families apart) in the first place! They are respectful towards me, and I respect them as well. But, I'm not saying that I'm not respectful towards the bad ones, though. I'm extremely respectful towards everyone, as long as I can understand why they think that way, even if their views are spawned from false beliefs.
For example: Hitler hated the Jews. Why? Because his false belief was that they caused all of the suffering in the world. It was because of this horrible belief that the Holocaust happened. Because he thought that the Jews were bad, he legitimately wanted Germany to be a better place. I don't support his views, but you can see that he was just a victim to propaganda and religion. This may be controversial, but I think that he was actually a pretty good guy. He did what he thought would benefit society, no matter how hard or fatal his plans were. He actually wanted the best for his people, and he acted on it. I don't support racists, but you shouldn't hate them because they hate you. If you hate the haters, you're being hypocritical and you're creating more turmoil in society.
But that doesn't mean that you should support them either. Just respect them for their opinions, and eventually, they will respect you.

Back to religion.
I don't hate religion, I just don't believe in what they believe. They have started a lot of wars (from the Crusades to simple arguments between friends), but you have to give some credit to the good ones. They have legitimately helped others, building hospitals, giving to the poor, and helping others. If you are religious, just know that no matter how much you pray to your god, actually helping out and experiencing things first-hand will help you in the long run. Every religion I have heard of does not teach you to hate everyone who doesn't believe in what you believe, it teaches you to respect others, to love people as you love yourself. A lot of Christians teach that, but hardly anyone follows that rule, no matter how much they may say that they do.

I'll controversially compare Christians to Adolf Hitler. They both think that they are doing good in the world, but they really aren't. As I said, not all Christians are bad; I'm just saying that the majority are, mostly because that's what the Bible taught, and they're just being faithful Christians, so you cannot condemn them for doing what they do, no matter how bad it may be, as long as they aren't mentally ill or psychotic or something, because they think that the things that they do are good, and everything the Bible says is good (like saying that gays should be put to death and slavery is A-OK and everything). Plus, another thing that not all Christians teach, but Catholics do, is that if you know that you're doing something bad, then it's a mortal sin, and if you die in the wake of mortal sin, you go straight to Hell. Adolf Hitler didn't think what he did was bad, so, according to the criteria, he wouldn't be in Hell. There's more criteria than the knowing-that-you're-sinning part:

~You must be willingly doing the sin, and nobody's forcing you to do it
~It must be of grave significance. I have no idea what "grave" means, but I think that it means that if it's threatening the Earthly life or spiritual life of someone, it's grave. Not sure, but that's my theory.

And mortal sins must meet all three criteria in order to be "mortal." So, thus, based off of Catholic logic, Hitler would not be in Hell, even though he was literally the worst person imaginable. So, people who willingly and knowingly drew someone away from their religion would go to Hell, whilst Hitler, who was accountable for millions of innocents lives taken away, a tyrant, and a racist, would be forgiven. That's Catholic logic for you, folks.

So, in the end, you shouldn't hate anyone for their views, and every religion is just as legit as the next. Just think about it, people. Religion is mostly bad, but does have some truly good ones in the mix.
Thank you for your time.
