There is a great website by Marshall Brain that I found on atheism, and features over fifty proofs that God isn't real (you can find it here, and you should read it and try to defend your faith afterwards). It basically states all of the reasons why I don't believe in a god, so I probably won't go into a lot of it in this post.
Surprisingly, it was the Bible itself that turned me away from it. Many people feel like they are truly in the presence of God while reading it, and they love and adore every verse--except the ones that don't fit their opinionated views. I mean, people say that atheists treat The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins as a Bible, yet, if we did, we would only choose statements that he makes, take statements out of context, and hold weekly services with selected readings from it while worshiping the author. Many of the things in the Bible is terribly corrupt (rape is okay but loving your parents isn't) and many of the things that happen in the Bible is so ridiculous. It's basically no different than any other religious text. All religions claim to be the true religion, and they do so be hauling out an ancient book written hundreds or thousands of years ago. I mean, imagine if, hundreds of years from now, people would be worshiping Albus Dumbledore because he came from a really old book written hundreds of years ago and, thus, must be completely and unquestionably true! There's tons of books, articles and videos on the corruption of the Bible and how it disagrees with common sense and logic.
The treatment of Christians (and other religious people) towards atheists also turned me away from them. They are repeatedly cruel towards people who don't agree with their logic, whether it be a little old hate comment on YouTube or killing six million Jews. They always claim that atheists are trying to take over society and they're terrified because they're spreading the lie that a magical space fairy isn't real all over our youth! Look who's trying to control things!!!! Imagine if atheists told Christians that they couldn't hold public office in seven states! Imagine if Christianity was punishable by death in thirteen countries! Every single U.S. President has been a straight Christian man, with only one being a person of color. Imagine if minorities became the majorities and how straight Christian white men would be furious at how they're treated because, all of their lives, they've lived in the laps of luxury. Christians repeatedly bash atheists because their beliefs--or lack of. It's both hilarious and terrifying to witness. Christians will scold atheists for spreading lies, then they'll go and spread lies--religiously, politically (fake news, etc.), and morally. I don't like hypocrites, and the whole Christian foundation is the very definition of hypocritical: turn people to think the way you do but when people try to do the same back then they'll be sent to hell for being bad people.
Logic and reason also turned me away from religion. Really, in everyone's hearts, they know that there is no god, but they cling to their beliefs because:
I hate having to disprove God, because, honestly, it's clearly obvious that he's not real. It's as logical as believing in unicorns and Santa Claus. In fact, in The Miracle on 34th Street, they conclude that since God exists, then Santa Claus does, too. It's blatantly saying that God isn't real, but Christians seem to love this movie nevertheless. Religion isn't dying anytime soon, but, I know that one day it will.

- They don't like to be proved wrong
- They were raised to believe in a magical space fairy since birth and since it wasn't debunked like Santa and was a popular opinion, they held onto it.
- They were brainwashed or forced to believe in a magical space fairy.
